WCADA is a registered charity and limited company founded in 1979 by, among others, Mr Alan Douglas and Dr Allan Hawkins. It aims to prevent, treat and reduce the harm caused by alcohol and drugs to individuals, their families and the community.

WCADA has been providing a range of treatment interventions for those affected by substance misuse for over 30 years, originally from a single office in Swansea to six agencies across Swansea, Neath Port Talbot and Bridgend. WCADA is one of the leading substance misuse treatment agencies in Wales providing Minnesota 12-Step Abstinence treatment and Harm Reduction services, including needle exchange and outreach, targeted to individual need. Other services provided include information, advice and treatment for young people, older and disabled people, family members and carers.

WCADA also offer individuals affected by substance misuse opportunities for learning new skills, improving self esteem and confidence, and provide support towards education, training, volunteering and employment through their DOMINO project.

WCADA are also experienced in working across the Criminal Justice arena with CARAT workers in all of the Welsh public prisons and staff based within the Youth Offending Service in Neath Port Talbot and Bridgend, and Hillside Secure Unit, Neath.

WCADA’s main strength is its staff which come from diverse backgrounds bringing a wealth of experience and academic achievement, committed and dedicated to the delivery of effective services.
